Welcome to Trezor Setup

Your comprehensive guide to setting up your Trezor hardware wallet and securing your cryptocurrency assets.

1

Unbox Your Trezor

Carefully open your Trezor package and verify that all components are present. Your package should contain:

  • Trezor hardware wallet device
  • USB-C cable
  • Recovery seed card
  • Keychain strap
  • Stickers

Inspect the device for any signs of tampering. The holographic seal should be intact and untampered.

2

Connect to Trezor Suite

Download and install Trezor Suite, the official desktop application for managing your Trezor device.

Connect your Trezor device to your computer using the provided USB-C cable. The device will power on automatically.

Follow the on-screen instructions in Trezor Suite to begin the setup process. The application will guide you through each step.

3

Initialize Your Device

Your Trezor will prompt you to install the latest firmware. This ensures your device has the most up-to-date security features.

After firmware installation, you'll be guided to set up your device as new or restore from a backup.

For new devices, you'll create a PIN code to protect physical access to your Trezor.

4

Backup Your Recovery Seed

The most critical step in securing your cryptocurrency is creating a backup of your recovery seed.

Your Trezor will generate a unique 12, 18, or 24-word recovery seed. Write these words down in the exact order shown on your device display.

Store your recovery seed in a secure location, separate from your Trezor device. Never share your recovery seed with anyone.

Getting Started Tips

Before you begin setting up your Trezor device, consider these important tips:

Prepare Your Environment

Ensure you're in a private location where you won't be interrupted during the setup process. This is especially important when writing down your recovery seed.

Verify Authenticity

Always purchase Trezor devices from the official SatoshiLabs shop or authorized resellers. Check the holographic seal on your device packaging to confirm it hasn't been tampered with.

Update Firmware

Trezor regularly releases firmware updates with security enhancements and new features. Always install the latest firmware during setup.

Secure Your Recovery Seed

Your recovery seed is the master key to your cryptocurrency. Store it securely, preferably in multiple locations, and never store it digitally or share it with anyone.

Test Small Amounts First

When you're ready to use your Trezor, start by sending a small amount of cryptocurrency to verify everything is working correctly before transferring larger amounts.
